Startlement, carpal tunnel, and random musings about my career

Freaky. Someone else I know has read my webdiary. Quick! Hide all the past entries! Run through them screaming with a pair of scissors!!

Just kidding. Still, it's a bit wierd. I forget, half the time, that lots of persons I know but haven't told are likely to find the site sooner or later. Good thing I haven't said anything incriminating about most of them ... they haven't pissed me off recently. *grin* *pause* I do hope Antarctic Boy doesn't find it, though. He has web access from ice country, but he doesn't know this nickname ... and if Nappy tells him ... *ominous tone* Nappy's days are numbered.

Kidding again. Too much coffee, not enough sleep, and ... (!!!) Did anybody besides me find the whole drown-the-worm scene in last night's Dune episode disturbing? Ack! Bad enough that they've completely drained the strength and wisdom out of Paul-Muad'Dib and invented a sensous Princess Irulan to replace the aloof Bene Gesserit-trained, literary one out of the book; did they REALLY have to include such an obviously phallic scene, and then throw all the characters into an orgy that never happened? *rubbing temples* That director should be drug out into the street and ...

Turning off Shell's temper now. Putting it into a lockbox and throwing away the key. I am not going to ruin my day on behalf of characters who do not really exist! *concentrating* Okay, I'm better.

My brother's driving back to my parent's town this weekend to have his wrist checked on ... He's complaining of achiness in the joints and whatnot. I really should have mine checked, too ... I'm just chicken about doctors. If I don't have tendonitis or carpal tunnel now, then I will in a couple of years; there's no way around it. I've been using a computer since I was 5 years old, and writing madly ever since I got my hands on a pen ... and I can't stop now. I bought one of those athletic neoprene wrist-wraps a couple years ago and when the pain flares up I just strap it on and keep going.

*yawn* Enough for this morning. Time to do one of my go-fer jobs; I get to run papers to the Business Office and pick up our mail at the Mailroom. *chuckling* Shades of my first job, when I was sixteen ... All I did was run errands and do office miscellany for a law firm for a few hours each day. You'd think that six years later, as "Database Manager", I'd be above this kind of thing.

I really don't mind that much, I guess. It breaks up the day ... and while I know I could be doing much more with myself, I'm not sure I want to. As soon as I start publishing novels, I want to cut back on work ... and hopefully be a full-time at-home writer before I'm thirty. Tall dream, I know. But I WANT that life. I want it very badly ...
