Fantasy epics, moving woes, football misery and t-shirt entanglements ...

Today's WWTBM question will be at the bottom, as usual. Here are the answer to yesterday's questions:

For $2000: C. Phish Food.
For $4000: A. Roger Ebert.

Thanks to the anonymous messager of yesterday, both for your message, which I really appreciated, and for reminding me (tangentially) that my new George R.R. Martin book hasn't arrived yet!!! I ordered it over a month ago from SFBC, and it's just not coming. Blame it on Christmas back-up, I guess. I should probably re-read "A Clash of Kings" and "A Game of Thrones" before "A Storm of Swords" gets here ... the plot is starting to get vague in my mind.

*tinkering online* Dang, it looks like there's going to be 6 books in that series, and only 3 are out!! *sigh* This kind of thing is why I'm not buying any more of the "Wheel of Time" series until it's complete; I read books one through seven a few years back, and now there are nine, with plans for three or four more in the works. It is so exhausting to re-read that many books each time a new one comes out, especially as intense and dark as Jordan's are. I love epic fantasy, but come ON.

Well, I'll have to wait to re-read anything until I'm done moving ... my attic/apartment is a maze of boxes right now. So far, I've filled four apple boxes with my books, and that's just two of my four bookshelves. I think I need more boxes. *laughing*

On a down note, there won't be DSL in our area until March, it looks like, and there are no cable modems. So if I want to play EQ before then, I'll have to get a modem and an ISP. (Acronym soup ... ) I've about settled on starting with a wood-elf druid, but what I *really* want to play are a wood-elf bard and a dark-elf enchanter. Both of those are so group-oriented, though, that I'd better get some familiarity with the way the game works, first.

Speaking of games, I forgot to mention the travesty of a football game I watched Sunday morning. I got up, wrapped myself in blankets, and perched in front of the TV to cheer while the Titans beat down the Ravens, and instead suffered while the Titans' special-teams played abominably and the Ravens danced their way to a 24-10 victory. Good grief. I hope the Vikings make it to the Super Bowl, because they're the only team I've cheered for in the past that looks like it has a shot.

*drumming fingers on desk* Back in November I paid for one-and-a-half rafting t-shirts, and last month we got a package in the mail from the company. Instead of the four t-shirts that Jocasta, Nappy, and I had collectively ordered, we got ONE t-shirt, of a man in a kayak, not our four-person raft. Nappy's been trying to get in touch with them to get either or t-shirts, or our money back, but he's had zero luck. Maybe I'd better try ... I do NOT want to have paid $30 for nothing.

*yawn* My brain's running on low this morning, and my life is set on "boring" today, so I think I'll leave you with today's WWTBM calendar question, and go do the mail-run ...

[For $8000]: Which of the following football players did not win the Heisman trophy?

A. Ernie Davis
B. O.J. Simpson
C. Jerry Rice
D. Steve Spurrier
