Awakening

Wow. It's been nearly a week since I was on last. I'm sorry; it's just been ... one of those weeks.

No, nothing really bad happened. It's just ... sometimes, I swear I must be mildly bipolar. It can't all be hormones. I spent the last week and a half or so feeling completely exhausted, no energy, no motivation, no nothing. I got very little done at work (besides reading Austen stories on the Republic of Pemberley) and not much done at home.

I mentioned to Mom that I'd been tired for several days, and she blamed it on lack of sleep and adjusting to a new schedule. BS. I get 5-7 hours of sleep every night, and that's usually more than enough. Adjustment doesn't cut it either. I agreed with her for awhile, but how does that explain why yesterday, all of a sudden, I got a brilliant idea, and FOOOM! I was off and running with a vengeance.

I made a major breakthrough on one of my Access projects, the one that's been stumping me for more than a month. I was lightyears away from completion, and now it's only a matter of tying up the loose ends. BOIING! BOIING! I have enough energy to bounce in my chair and chuckle to myself and plot stories in my head while I'm patching up the VBA code.

I caught my breath this morning on the way to work. Coming down Rex Hill, I could see into the pocket of valleys that we affectionately call the No-Berg Weather Vortex, and all was a sea of fluffy white. Here and there a strand of trees poked their heads bravely from the fog, and one long, low building rested on a rise like an island in the ocean. Over where the paper plant should have been, I saw what seemed to be a standing waterspout; the usual towers of steam became a different thing altogether.

I love being happy.

Back to the news of my life: I finished watching the first season of the X-Files, and find myself intrigued. We'd better get cable hooked back up by this weekend ... I want to see the new "What-Happened-To-Mulder" cycle. I know some of the plots (flourescent green fluid sucking bugs?) are a little on the lame side, and the show's obsessed with aliens ... but still. =)

I cheered my way through the Super Bowl ... my poor uncle was the only one in a roomful of family (15 people?) who cheered for the Giants; nobody else really had a preference, until I said, "Well, the Ravens beat the Titans, so they had d*** well better win!" This makes no sense unless you realize that most of my family were HUGE Houston Oilers fans, and until there are new Oilers we've placed our affections with the (ex-Oilers) Tennessee Titans. Therefore, anybody who beats our favorites had BETTER be the best, else it's a slam to our team. *grin*

I told the hairstylist on Saturday that I want to grow my hair out; here comes the awkward stage. I've had it at less than 3 inches and vastly layered for several months now, so it'll be awhile before it falls smoothly to my shoulders again. Half my friends think I'm being silly; they like it short. But it's so ... businessy when it's short. I like it too, but I'm not ready to look like Ms. Professional Twentysomething yet. I might be such a critter, but you won't catch me enjoying that fact.

I saw Henry again, too ... My parents have only had the pup for a month or so, and he's already doubled in size. I told my mother "If he's like this at 13 weeks, imagine him full grown ..." She told me to STOP saying that, everyone does, she doesn't want to install a new doggie door! *laughing* Mom had NO idea what she was getting herself in for when she took him in. He's the sweetest dog alive, even if his puppy teeth are just a wee bit too sharp (I have a scar to prove it), but he's going to be large ... this should be an adventure for my parents.

Okay! Enough wasted time for this morning! Hugs and kisses all 'round!
