2001-02-26 - 15:42:00 Walking campus, collecting pics, and visiting the 'rents
Ahhhh ... *stretching in chair* Good weekend, yes, I had a very good weekend; and this morning ain't half bad, either. *laughing* That reminds me of a saying from grade school in Texas: I ain't gonna say ain't four times, 'cause ain't ain't right." But it is, in Southern grammer; just as y'all is a perfectly acceptable word, borrowed from the "you-all" function available in Spanish. It can refer to one person or many people, and rolls twangingly off the tongue like the rest of Southern slang. Quite useful =) But I digress. Friday afternoon, I took my lightpole project out-of-doors. I got Jocasta to come over, and the pair of us marched around campus for three hours straight. It's a 70-acre campus; we must have covered 8-10 miles of paths and roads before we were done, and my map is now covered in little green, pink, and blue markings. I had no idea there were so many types of lightpoles!! It was a beautiful afternoon, too. I enjoyed the whole thing very much indeed. I couldn't do that every day, but it was a very good break from routine. Saturday, I went to the apartment of SOR and BioBoy. They have the most amazing collection of pets! Bird, cats, lizard, snakes, and others; every one entertaining. I could never remember all the details and species, so I won't even try to list them. The specific reason I visited, though, was for the wedding pictures. Beautiful wedding, beautiful pics. I can't wait until the photographer sends them the negatives and I can get a few copies made for my albums. (Yes, I'm a photography freak; I have over 700 pictures of family and friends in five albums in my room!) Out of all the weddings I've been in, I must say, I looked the best in theirs. When I was in Jocasta's wedding, the dresses were nice, but they were PINK (sorry, mauve!) and I don't wear any flavor of pink very well. Plus, I was a shade plump in the face from gaining weight after my breakup with Weatherman ... and Jocasta was getting married on what would have been my wedding day. Talk about stressful; no wonder I didn't look too good in the pics. And as much as I liked the dress from KaDee's wedding ... as an ordinary everyday dress ... it wasn't very flattering as a bridesmaids' dress. At least it was lavender -- much better than pink. This wedding, I had a royal blue dress cut in a flattering manner, my hair was actually behaving, and everything was beautiful and happy all around. It was my third time as Maid of Honor, and I wasn't stressing about anything. Glorious day. Happy couple. Smiles everywhere! After the visit, I picked up a few groceries and three rolls' worth of pictures I'd dropped at Freddie's on Wednesday. There were lots of shots of the remodeling last August, just before I moved into Jocasta and Nappy's attic ... *shudder* I can't believe we actually perservered and made that place (mostly) liveable. It was frightening when we got started. There were also a bunch of pics of birthday parties, my brother's graduation, and a priceless pic of Toby, our 15-year-old dog who |
