Candles, visitors, and a short outburst of Fury

*grinning* I came in to work today to find a gift bag on my desk ... Secretary #1 gave me a cute little note about how much she appreciates what I do here, and two candles in pretty little holders.

*sniffing* The tag says Raspberry, Pomegranate & Plumberry. They're white wax candles with little chunks thrown in of green, white, and purplish-red; I wonder which color belongs to which scent. They're very artsy looking ... and I can't wait to get home and burn them. I love candles! Mom's always had at least one burning in the house during the daytime for as long as I can remember, so they have a happy, homey association for me.

One day until I turn 23 ... Seven days until Exiled Friend arrives on my doorstep. *bouncing with glee* I was already going to visit her for her birthday at the end of April, but a friend of hers from Arkansas is flying in for a week, so she has to be at PDX to meet the plane. It's not until late on Saturday the 17th, so she's going to try and drive to my apartment the night before and spend 20 hours or so with me. I haven't seen her since Hallowe'en! This ought to be fun!!

(That is, if she doesn't get lost trying to find my new place ... She has *cough* *cough* a way with maps ...)

Jocasta has a saying that any of the three of us, apart, function at only 70% efficiency. Two of us together run at 95%. Add the third member to the group, and we're at 120% and causing all kinds of havoc. That's not always true, of course, and (selfish me) I don't always want to be sharing Hildegaard with Jocasta every second she's out here. Still, I agree with her. It's easy to feel only partly real when your best friends are far away, and when they're around everything is much more lively.

*checking email* What the ...? $#*&! I ordered something rather sizeable on eBay in the middle of February, at Azash's request. It's a collection of something we both wanted, and we're going to split it. But the guy didn't recieve my money order in the mail until the 27th. Waiting, waiting, waiting. He told me he'd ship immediately. Now it's March 9th, and he just told me "Oh, Ooops, I got delayed, I'll mail it soon." SOON?!?!? *simmering glare*

Well. Anyway. So much for expecting to pick it up at the mailroom today. *sigh* Maybe I'll get something else entertaining in the mail. Or maybe ... *chuckling* I can send an email to the guy all broken-hearted about how it was a gift for someone's birthday (no need to say the birthday was mine) and he's ruined everything.

*pause* No, I can't do it. Too cruel. But it would be amusing!
