Miscellaneous thoughts on a miscellaneous kind of day

I cannot believe how stupid the media is. Blaring every last detail of every germ and every threat and every bullet in a race to be the Most Informative. In terms of morale-shaking of the populace, the media is doing the terrorists' job for them. Seriously, how intelligent is that?

My friend KaDee had her second baby last week ... another little boy. She's eighteen months younger than me, and her children are eighteen months apart in age. Plus, she had her second wedding anniversary the day before the baby was born. Sometimes I envy her life. Sometimes she envies mine. I wonder which of us, in the end, will be happiest? It's a tossup, at this point.

Which reminds me, can I just say, Wow? Even if I didn't already like B:tVS, last night's episode would have gotten the same reaction from me. That was seriously intense storytelling, and I'm not just talking dialogue and plot. Ach, now my hands are itching for a videocamera. No, better yet, a pad I can write a script on, and a cameraman to film it for me. *laughing* No, scratch that. I'd never be good at it. But ever since I did that three-week segment on video techniques back in high school, I've been in serious awe of people who can create emotionally powerful video like that, whether it's movie, tv, or even just a really snazzy commercial.

Mmmm, and it looks like a commercial outside my window right now ... a commercial for windshield wipers, perhaps. Looks like the drive home is going to be chilly and careful. It never ceases to amaze me how an area so well known for its rain seems to forget how to drive in it, every summer, without fail. Two months of sun, and Poof! Brainless Oregon drivers. Of course, that's nothing compared to how they deal with snow ... Heh.

This is one of the areas in which I am happy to be the transplanted child of multiply transplanted parents. We've got enough varied American cultures affecting us, the stupidities of each one cancel themselves out against the strength of the others. (And yeah, that didn't make much sense. But I'm wired right now ... staff conference day ... way too much sugar and caffeine in my system).

Heigh ho, heigh ho, it's home from work I go ...
