2001-11-26 - 9:22 p.m. TV, Thanksgiving, and handkerchiefs
*lmao* I just got done watching the "Weakest Link" tonight. It was the episode with the Star Trek cast members, and the fact that they all knew each other made the usual banter a lot more amusing. Also, believe it or not, they racked up a record $167,500. Not only were they funny, they were smart! And people think Star Trek fans are stupid ... (Yes, I realize that the fact that some of the actors are smart really says nothing about the intelligence of the fans, but it was begging to be said). Anyway. Ahem. I haven't written in several days, due to the Thanksgiving holiday ... which really wasn't anything special. Azash and I went to the parents' for the day. The family parts, with just us four, were really pretty fun; card games, the traditional dinner, and some fun conversation. Oh, and we went to Granddad's early and missed all the rest of the extended family, which was really rather a blessing ... quality visit time, and no being looked down upon, and no awkward questions about my impending joblessness or lack of a boyfriend. I also got to see KaDee's little'uns ... Baby #1 is almost 20 months old now, and baby #2 is seven weeks. I got to hold tiny Zane for half an hour or so, and play peekabo with toddler Devyn, and both little boys were sweet and entirely adorable. Unfortunately, I had almost nothing to talk about with KaDee herself. Every time I tried to start a conversation, it fell flat, and then she and her husband absconded the party entirely to discuss checkbook matters upstairs. My mom and KaDee's mom both got annoyed with KaDee and apologetic to me about the whole thing, but I wasn't all that crushed ... I've known for a long time that KaDee and I are drifting apart, and that she has very little interest in my current life. Her babies and her husband eat up all her time. I feel sorry for her mother though ... poor woman only got about 24 hours with her grandkids this month, while KaDee spent nearly three weeks with her husband's parents not very far away. I'd write more, but I'm feeling the need to go blow my nose and cough up a lung again ... I caught a nasty cold somewhere this weekend. Stuffy nose, ear ache, draining-down-the-back-of-the-throat, wake-me-up-coughing-every-two-hours kind of nasty. Yeah, I called in sick to work. Why not? I was feeling miserable, and I have eleven sick days left at the college and only a month of work to use them in. No guilt here. Anyway. Later. << back | next >>
