2001-12-31 - 2:27 p.m. New Year's Eve
So. Today's my last day of work at the university ... I think I'll digest for a day or two, before I post on that topic. Speaking of, yikes, I haven't posted in a week. I've been too stressed for words, and I still am to some extent, but I thought I should at least remind everyone I'm still alive. Oh, and that I'll be moving soon ... due to obvious financial crunch, Azash and I will be moving back in with my parents as of January 25. Hopefully that won't last very long, and I'll be able to get a job so we can hunt for a new apartment in Salem. In the short term, though, that means that we lose DSL somewhere near the end of January, and my Internet access will be very erratic for awhile. As a whole, I'm cautiously optimistic. I've got a cousin who works for the city government in one of the towns around here, and he said there's a job opening tailor-made for me coming up in July. There's a lot of time between now and July, but I'm sure, with that in mind, I'll be able to find some small corner of employment to tide me over. Even if I don't, there's unemployment money, and without rent & utilities my bills are really not that bad. Thank God I paid off my car with my tax returns last year. I have time to stretch, regroup, rest my brain, and explore options ... if I can just keep Mom from getting antsy. I saw Kate & Leopold last Thursday. I was very happily entertained, although I did raise an eyebrow at the end ... There are some very necessary "But what happens next?" and "How could that work out?" questions that the script avoided. I'm very glad that Hugh Jackman has done turns in X-Men and Swordfish to prove his action credentials; otherwise, his absolutely stellar performance as a romantic hero in this movie, and in Someone Like You last year, might have got him pigeonholed in just one movie type. That would have been a shame; he's such a great actor. And he's much better looking than my other favorite highly-versatile actor, Bruce Willis. And on that frothy note, I'll log off. More later ... like, Wednesday. That'll be my first full day of freedom ... I'm still not sure whether to bite my nails or do the happy dance. Such is life. << back | next >>
