Word Salad

Still tired. Got poked in the arm yesterday with a vaccination needle (*shudder*) and still haven't unpacked most of my room. Plus, I have to go to the DMV today to renew my driver's license ... it expires on Sunday. But my mood is, for the most part, better.

That might have something to do with the snow we've had in the last 24 hours, of course ... *grin* It didn't really stick, but I got to drive around in blizzardy conditions for a few minutes yesterday, and this morning there was a froth of white decorating my car, both of which events made me smile like a little girl with her hands fist-deep in birthday cake.

I'm still grieving over what they did to Wesley on Angel, and (to quote the characters) my heart hurts for the situation with Xander and Anya on Buffy. I know, I know, Joss Whedon said there will be no happy endings on his shows, but ... *sigh*. I take my fandoms way too seriously. And there wasn't even much saucy banter between Gil and Sara last night on CSI! I mean, can't I at least get vicarious enjoyment from one TV romance? Sarah and Rob over on Survivor 4 certainly don't count. She and her "flotation devices" nearly got voted out last night, and it would have been good riddance.

There. I think I've exorcised all the FAN!!! musings bouncing around in my brain. Except the literary ones, that is ... for example, the ones that still giggle about getting the entire Louis L'Amour Sackett series, and the Mercedes Lackey ones nagging at me to go purchase more of her Valdemar series. The Katherine Kurtz ones are at bay for now, since I just fed them with St. Patrick's Gargoyle, and they're willing to wait until the next Deryni book comes out.

The Melanie Rawn ones have given up waiting for the next Exiles book, and the Anne McCaffrey ones are waiting patiently for The Tower and the Hive to hit the used book store. The Robert Jordan ones are grumbling about the long haul and rudely refusing to pick up another of his Wheel of Time books until he finishes the series, already. The George R. R. Martin ones are wondering how on earth he can set his upcoming novel six years after the events of the last one and not miss all kinds of important things. (That makes me wonder sometimes about my grasp on the real world, that I invest so much importance in an alterworld's history).

There are more, of course; with 600+ books on my shelves, that's dozens and dozens of "favorite" authors. But they've slipped my mind just now and I've no wish to bore myself with digging for them.

Anything of real interest to share? Not unless you're interested in knowing that I picked up a Rubik's cube again a few weeks ago and delighted myself by remembering how to solve it without needing to find a solution handbook. Or whether you care that I crowed in delight yesterday when I explored the nearest Safeway and discovered that their "China Cuisine", while (of course) tasting different than that in Tigard, still makes a delicious low-priced lunch.

The S-Class, by the way, is (IMHO) highly overrated. When I worked in Newberg, Taco Bell was running the Chicken Quesadilla special for $3.49, and it was mmm nummy goodness; the Steak Quesadilla is $4.29, and not nearly as pleasing to the tastebuds. Oh well. I really wish there was a Wendy's within a mile radius, because their salads are the best fast food I've ever had the pleasure to consume. Next thing you know, I'll be forced to start trying the McDonald's specials, and having worked in a McDonald's once, I really should know better. *grin*

Well, here's to another day marked off on the calendar. Cheers.
