Whee. Maybe I'm manic. Because today? This is good.

Hey, it's the fifteenth again. Paycheck day. Major downside: This is my bills check, which means I have to balance my checkbook again. Upside: I can go to the bookstore again!

I was on the edge of my seat all during B:tVS last night. It was really bad, but not in the poorly written sense, more in the "Ow! Ow! What else are they going to torture my favorite characters with?" sense. Everyone was hurting or in shock or in rage, and the Big Bad has finally appeared with only two episodes to go. Plus, it's becoming obvious that all the threads will not be tied up this season. They're doing much the same thing to A:tS, and both shows are going to nag at me all summer.

I went to the TWoP forums after the show, and was surprised to find that about two-thirds of the viewers detested the Buffy episode. WTF? Of course the acting was a little blank; the characters were all in shock. Of course Xander didn't ask about the blood on Willow's shirt, and where Tara was; his other best friend was busy dying under the hands of the EMTs. Situations like that tend to give people tunnel vision. Of course they went into exposition mode at times; they were things actual people might say, even if it was slightly repetitive to watch.

The objection I loved most, however, was the one asking why Willow hadn't just zapped herself after Warren instead of riding in Xander's car, since she could obviously teleport. How sad am I for knowing that answer to that? *cough* SciFiGeek *cough*.

If you're tracking someone by sensory means, even if it's an "extra" sense, you might know what direction he's in and whether he's close or far, but you're not going to be able to put an X on a map. Without an exact spot to jump to, teleportation is not possible. I suppose she could have played jump-check-jump, making small jumps within her range of vision and then sensing again what direction he was in, but that would have been a pretty hefty magick drain, I'd imagine. Ergo, Willow riding around with Xander and Buffy using the warmer-colder method of detection.

Anyway. I was inspired to get back to my fanfic writing, and churned out a 2,100 word "interlude" story that will fit in the gap between my two larger fics. I'm going to write several of them, and this particular one was from Giles' POV. I'm not certain I got the voice down, but that's what beta'ing is all about. Hopefully I'll get a critique back in a day or two so I can touch it up and post it.

Did I say it was the 15th today? Damn it. It's halfway through the month, and I still haven't bothered to put my medical insurance cards in my purse or to call for an appointment with a doctor. *kicking self* Coward much?

Heh. I said "Damn it" around my mother the other day; the linguistic creep from living with my brother is starting to become more obvious. She was all, "[Shell]! You don't say things like that!" I blinked at her for a moment before I realized what she meant. I had a culture shock moment with my own parents. *laughing*

Hmm. Sunny outside my window, only one step back for every five steps forward this morning instead of the usual 1:2 ratio? I think I can safely call this a good day. Blessings!
