Oh, what a splendid day I had yesterday. Not. I was still suffering from the leftovers of Sunday's major headache -- I'd label that one a migraine, I think. It was one of those where my head throbs painfully when I move, the lights all seem a bit too bright, noises are incredibly distracting, and I'm afflicted by minor muscle aches and nausea. Not completely paralyzing, but close. I coped with it on Sunday by taking lots of aspirin and curling up on the couch all day with the lights dimmed and a book in hand; no such luck Monday. I had a meeting at work. More aspirin, a little scatterbrained programming, and thank God the meeting was in the morning. I clocked out at 11:30. Of course, I went to check my mail first, and what did I find? The time-card I turned in last week, with confused scribbling on it from the ladies in the business office. Did I really work on a holiday? they wanted to know. Ooops. I marked the 8 Holiday hours on June 3 and the hours I worked June 3 on May 27, which was Memorial Day. How do I manage to do things like that without noticing? After I got that straightened out, I went home for some more tea-and-novel therapy on my couch, and this time I found some anti-histamine/decongestant medicine to go with my aspirin. Since the only times I ever get these migraine headaches are during major allergy seasons, I took one, and darn if it didn't help. So all of a sudden it's 4:00pm and I'm clear-headed for the first time in days! Dangerous. I decided that since I had skipped out on work, I'd better do something useful ... I unpacked a bunch of clothing that was still in boxes from the move, since most of my summer T-shirts were in there, and decided it was high time I weeded out the stuff I haven't worn in two years or more. I filled up a large plastic trash bag with extraneous T-Shirts, pyjamas, sweatshirts, and other things that I either (a) inherited from Mom and didn't like, (b) only wore in high school, or (c) can't believe I ever wore. Fun fun. I'll have to remember to take it all by the Goodwill this weekend. Of course, then I had to run several loads of laundry to clean the stuff I was keeping; the boxes were dusty enough to have me sneezing and feeling headachy again. Then I had to run the garbage out, and bag up the stacks of pop cans under the sink, and put the top piece back on the heater, and all sorts of other miscellaneous stuff that really should be the man's job. Then I put a pizza in the oven for dinner, and managed to burn my hand in the process. By this time I was too frustrated to clean the bathroom, which really needed doing, so I checked my email. I wonder if Yahoo! messed up my account? I've emailed half a dozen people over the last two weeks and received nothing in reply. Is everyone being rude? Or is my mail just not going through? It's depressing enough that it's giving me writer's block; I was really counting on feedback for my current story. After that blankness, I checked some more fanfic, read some more of my novel, and went to bed. So, that was my Monday. I hope y'all had a better one. << back
