Twilit Tuesday

OMG, I've been crushed on.

Hmmm. Better than being on Quoted or Oddgoogle, but darn if it don't make me *blush*. =)

And hey! No boss today. Lots of wandering around the office, smiling at people, burying my nose in the newspaper for awhile, putting stickers on people's computers, some messing about with inventory paperwork. Life was, unexpectedly, good.

I talked to Hildegaard again last night ... her mum wants me to move out to Eastern Oregon hasta pronto, as in no delay, don't pass go, please move out here and keep my daughter company. She has, in fact, found "the perfect job" for me to apply for, which incidentally requires an education degree and two years' teaching experience. Now, obviously, I don't have either of those things.

"Oh, but you have all the computer experience they're looking for, and that's the most important thing! And I'm sure you can take make-up classes, and you've tutored before, right? Just come and visit on August 9th, and we'll go by the reservation and ..." etc., etc., etc.

I have five words for my chances of getting that job: Not. A. Chance. In. Hell.

Wait. Does that count as five? 'Cause one word's an article and another's a preposition, and ... Ah, never mind. *grin* Lots of fond memories going through my mind right now of the 9th grade Preposition Dance. Aboard, about, above, across, after, against, along, among, around, at ... Hey! I still remember it! Now, that's just sad.

Anyway. I'm going to humor her and apply, but I'm not holding my breath. Moving in August would be kind of, er, sudden. As long as my currently-delayed 6 month review goes OK, I'm not in any panic.

Let's see, what other news. I temporarily gave up on my latest fanfic ... 37,000+ words in, and it's stopped making any sense to me. So I'm putting it on temporary hiatus until I stop dreaming that I am Buffy, because that's really messing up my plot-making skills. It's distracting to sit down and start writing something only to realize that the prior scene you're thinking of is actually a snippet that happened in your sleep.

And did I mention that Granddad's second cousin was here and Mom bought one of our genealogy books off of her? I probably did, but I'm not in the mood to page back through my own rantings just now. I've been depressed lately, and I don't feel like rereading all that. Anyway, though, it takes the Norweigan quarter of my blood back to the 16th century. Cool stuff. All proven, too.

Ooo. Robocop on TV. I've only seen it, what, half-a-dozen times? It's a cable favorite, and sometimes there's just nothing else on. "You have 20 seconds to comply." Hey, that reminds me. Isn't it Peter Weller that plays the Robocop character? Because I laughed myself to bits last time I saw Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension and recognized Buckaroo as Robocop. He has a ... unique line delivery style.

Did I mention that when Sarah was here the other day, we meant to go clothes shopping? We did the last time she was here, too. Hah. That time I ended up with $38.00 in books and a NASA mug. This time, I ended up with a $5.00 glass arabic-looking perfume bottle from the "Gifts from Afar" store. Next time I'm in there, I'm dragging Azash with me. If he wants incense for the apartment, then he better help me pick out the scents.

Not much else to say. The world outside is in that stage of twilight where the sky can't decide what shade of navy-teal-amber-rose it wants to be, and the stars are beginning to glimmer through ... Nice chill in the air, whispering in the trees. Too many mosquitoes, but if I could expand this hour to fill the entire day, life would be a lot more perfect. This is the time of day when I'm really awake.

Anyway. Enough rambling for one evening. Blessings!
