2002-01-07 (UPDATE) - 15:14:11 A "Cast List" for interested readers
In the interests of privacy, I use different names for most of the people I write about ... except perhaps the ones with online diaries. (They use their real first names in their own diaries, they're fair game). As more and more people read my diary, there's always a fraction of a chance that there might be repercussions from the things I say. I hate worrying about repercussions. I do that every day anyway, and it's exhausting. You're supposed to be able to get away from these things in a diary. *shrug* Oh well. So, here goes.
- Azash
- My brother. (Yes, I know it's the name of a dark god in a David Eddings fantasy series. He chose it himself for online gaming purposes. He says it sounds cool, and there's a neat Azash quote from the book he uses as an e-sig).
- Hildegaard
- My best friend of four years, who lives 300 miles away from me. We attended college together for one year over 5 years ago and haven't stopped laughing with each other since. There have been recent problems, but we're still best buds; despite the fact that she's planning to move even further away from me, to attend college in Boise, Idaho.
- Arka
- Hildegaard's other best friend. She lives Down South, and we both have relatives in the Shreveport area. I've only met her twice, but she's nice.
- Jocasta
- The third member of the Solatiga (a term meaning "The Three Mistakes" in Indonesian). She, Hildegaard, and I were inseperable from the time we met. Jocasta is also the female half of the couple whose attic I occupied in fall 2000.
- Napoleon (aka Nappy)
- He's the male half of the couple whose attic I occupied in fall 2000. He works as a custodian at the same university I worked for ... and is valiantly trying to break into the computer-job world. He needs the $$ to pay off his student loans and hire a housekeeper for his wife.
- Antarctic Boy
- An old frend of Nappy's. He was a groomsman at Nappy and Jocasta's wedding three years ago, which is how I met him; I was maid of honor. The four of us went rafting one weekend in July 2000. He did marine biology research in Antarctica for six months last year, and recently flew back for another stay until spring 2002. In some entries, I called him "New Zealand Boy", while he was camping the beaches of New Zealand for a few months.
- Trisket
- My first boyfriend once used this nickname. Since some people who read here know who he is, I'm not going to use his real name. I miss him a lot sometimes; but we have gone in vastly different directions over the years.
- Weatherman
- Once upon a time, my second boyfriend (also my ex-fiance) once gave himself the title of "The Immortal Weather". (Don't ask). While I don't really care if anyone reads his real name, it seems silly to use nicknames for everyone BUT him.
- Kadee
- My close friend of eleven years, who recently got married, had a baby, and moved to Colorado, all within twelve months. Last summer, she got pregnant again and moved to Idaho. This winter, she's moving back to Oregon while her husband takes a job back in Colorado. I've missed her. She's like the younger sister I never had.
- Madman
- He's used this nickname for years. He's the one that turned "Shell" into "Shellpatine" ... we moderated an email-type online conference together for a couple of years, and we were "Empress Shellpatine" and the "Darth Enforcer". He just got married in Nov 2001, to a very sweet young woman, and lives very far away.
- Leopold
- He's a slightly older cousin of mine, who works for a city government somewhere in the Willamette Valley. He's a really nice guy, married, with two adorable adopted children. I don't see him nearly as often as I should.
- Nellanor
- She's a friend I made at college a few years back. She's very sweet, very deep, and usually very quiet ... not surprising that she's an emerging poet, currently double-majoring in Writing/Lit and Philosophy.
- Popsi
- She's Nellanor's roommate. (She gave herself this nickname last year, so I'm not being cruel). We've had our difficulties, but we're generally fairly good friends.
- BioBoy & Shell's Old Roommate (SOR)
- These two are also friends from college, and got married in 2000. Nellanor, Popsi and I were all in their December wedding ... very beautiful wedding. Great people.
- Dolphin & Pretzel & Baby Betty
- These two got married in 1997. They were the main reason I was in the car 14 hours on my last day of finals that year ... just to see them tie the knot. They are so cute together, and their little daughter is absolutely adorable.
Then there's the list of people that I know, who have their very own Diaryland websites. I'll let their sites speak for themselves:
- speedbump
- timethian
- sunsetjade
- jadedpdx
- unicornbeauty
That's all for now. I'll update the list periodically as I talk about more people.
